Uberti "Custom"model 44-40
« on: November 03, 2017, 07:17:00 PM »
My wife surprised the hell out of me buying herself a Uberti "Custom" model SAA in 44-40 with 7-1/2" barrel!

It's a blued gun with what appears to be gold filled engraving on the frame and cylinder. The frame is brass. Is that something to be concerned about?

She currently shoots a pair of Ruger .44 Spl. Blackhawks, so she is no stranger to .44 calibres. If she doesn't like the gun, I'll be the one shooting it, which means I'll be looking for another SAA in 44-40.

You mean the frame of the gun is brass?  Or the grip frames are brass?

We picked up a pair of Uberti Smoke Wagons in 44-40 today.  I thought they were mine.  But Mary pushed in and did the paperwork and now they are hers!  She said I could shoot them.  ::)

I think you PJ must be saying the gripframe is brass.  Can't imagine the frame would be brass.  Anyway, brass gripframe is totally fine for shooting.  Heck, all Uberti SAA's had brass gripframes in their earlier days.

Yeah - my bad. Of course I meant grip frame.

What's with these women and their love of 44-40 revolvers? Makes the male .38 pop gunners look like a bunch of wimps.
