I been looking for a Sling for my Krag..... considered Woven .... eh !   Undecided

Looked at the Leather Slings on EBay .... Photo's may be misleading but they look Pakistani or Indian Urine tanned leather...

And $29 bucks  eh !  didn't float my boat

I found this one on Amazon
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00GB9K3AQ/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I figured what the heck and ordered  one 15 bucks.....

What I got was .... top grain leather ...well made ...down side one of the loops  ( bigger one ) was missing,  a quick note to the vendor through Amazon,  netted several Email replies ...great communication on their part , apologies and a loop quickly sent .

If you need a sling, here it is

M2, is that sling one continuous piece of leather? I have one from S&S and it'd 2 pieces spliced together, and you have to be sure to set it up so the splice doesn't fall in the swivel. That one looks good, and doesn't have the "orange" color of the S&S one.

Yes Sir one piece strap 64" long ....

I went to look at the S&S offering .." .

30/40 US KRAG RIFLE SLING. Leather with Brass Claw & Button, Leather Keepers. 2 piece construction as per original. Fits all models of US Krag Rifles ..

I find the " 2 piece construction as per original "  confusing  Huh

are they saying the strap is skived & joined  ?    ....not the case with the one I got .

I also noted...the two keeper loops appear to be the same size  Undecided   on the one I got,  one loop is right to pass two thickness of leather
the other loop 3 thickness ( needed at the butt swivel end )

I'll have to get at least one of those to upgrade my Krag, or even 2 so I can do the Trapdoor, too. But then I'll have to look closer for the correct rifle in the rack at a Muster-since I won't just grab the one with the orange sling!

Did they use that older style sling for the trench guns, or just the same M1907 as the rifles?

perhaps some were, I have nothing  documented.... Undecided

The 07 is two piece strap..... and certainly issued with the Trench gun most photos show ....

I have the original 2 piece slings my dad got with his two Krags he bought from the NRA back in the 30's (1.50 each) and I was told they were made from CW Musket slings for the .45-70's and then used on the Krags. They are smoothed out where they are joined and sewed.

Very interesting ....

The 07 is two pieces mechanically joined by hardware....

the 45/70 Springfield and Krag Sling may have been two straps skived & sewn to length and/or perhaps one continues strap depending on the contractor.

The replica I purchased is one continues strap, it has RIA stamp, brass hardware (not brass plated ) and it has two loops of slightly different sizes needed to fit the 2 or 3 thicknesses of strap as rigged.
