Possums would be the victor in brawl with a domestic cat.... they are viscous and have a nasty bite , complete with bacteria which can lead to Sepsis. A good reason not to tangle with one yourself.

Armadillos are pretty much armored against a domestic cat's claws & teeth ....and have powerful and sharp claw themselves, cornered
I think the cat loses.

Yeah, I know-just wish all those cats were more useful!

And the armadillos less numerous.

I didn't used to have a problem with armadillos-but that was before they moved into my area...

Possums I'm pretty much used to, they've always been here. Usually don't have a problem with them, as I don't have any chickens at this time.

Morning y'all.
Coffee is hot.

'Tis 38 and overcast. "Mostly cloudy. Areas of dense fog reducing visibilities to less than 1/4 mile at times in the morning. A slight chance of light rain in the afternoon. Highs in the upper 50s. Light and variable wind becoming southwest around 5 mph in the afternoon. Chance of rain 20 percent."

Thanks for the coffee Slim.

The front that moved thru was generally pretty fast. Not sure how much rain it dumped, but we got what the Lord wanted us to have. I see on the news it may have been more severe to our south.

Whereas you have 9 cats, we have 9 dogs, and they love to kill off possums and armadillos. Caught them with a coon once, and thought they had one of the cats, so I chased them off of it. He was pretty well roughed up, but not so bad. He growled at me, started licking his wounds, and eventually staggered off.

Yesterday was an embarrassing one for me. For the first time in many years, I got lost in my backyard. Let me explain, my back property line is about 5 acres of creek, when it is sort of defined, 5 acres of swamp the rest of the time. I hadn't been back there in a while, well before Irma and the rest of the storms, so there were a lot of big trees down. I didn't even realize I had crossed the "creek" at first. I saw a hunting stand, and went to investigate it. That was when it dawned on me I was on the wrong side, so I started working my way North, towards the other line, and eventually crossed back to my side. That is when I found a second stand. This one is definitely on my land, about halfway between the North and South lines.

Anybody want a slightly used stand, cheap?

I've always been fond of "Trespassers will be violated" or the most recent thought "If caught trespassing, they will need to search piles of dog poop to find any evidence". Funny thing is, somebody called animal control about my dogs, saying one of them tried to bite them. They even gave the exact address, which is odd, since NOBODY can find us, even with an address on the gate. This includes cops and fire dept.

As far as your hand, I got my left hand bit a few years ago, breaking up a dog fight. It wasn't a terrible bite, but he hit one of the metal plates in the backside. It swelled up something terrible, hurt real bad, and I couldn't use it for much for almost 2 weeks.

I recieve a magazine sub in the mail, from Guns &Ammo "Handguns".  Remember paper magazines with glossy covers?  I go thru it ever time it arrives. Every other month or so, then i will remove my name and info and leave at VA clinic or take to work.  My only problem is i did not order it,  neither did Suzanne or her either of her 2 sons.  I have never recieved a bill for it either.  So if one of you had sent it to me, I thank you.  If you haven't, how do i figure who did?

Morning all.

Fall has fell here.  Trees are all different colors now.  Even the stragglers.  Took the dog out this morning and it was 40 degrees and sunny.

In other news, I've got some bread dough in the refrigerator that has been rising overnight, so I'll have to take care of that soon.  Making some Mexican Concha bread.

Not me. Not sure how you would find out.

I'm at home sitting on the boys. Micah is sick. The better-half and the girls had to go to Madison.

'Tis 45, overcast and windy. "Blustery. Cooler. Cloudy with a chance of light rain. Highs in the middle 40s. Northwest wind 15 to 25 mph with gusts to around 45 mph. Chance of rain 50 percent. "

Coffee is ready ...... had to lite the space heater this morning. 3 of the 4 dogs are laying in front of it.

Outside we are nursing a sick Billy Goat. One we bought for a herd sire.  I think someone here is spoiling him. He needs to move off the deck back to the barn. He is only 6 months old and not strong enough to defend his self right now.

Afternoon all.

Another sunny day in California.  Forecast for 75.  Not bad.

Dog is happily chewing on a bone filled with peanut butter.  And three of our chickens are molting, so our yard is full of feathers right now.

We're down to 1-2 eggs/day now, with 8 hens.
