Package arrived from Midway today-among the contents are a 44-310 mold and 41Swiss dies. So we'll see how mine likes them.

I have a Swiss Vetterli and a plethora of .427- 200 grain lead bullets. Can anyone recommend a safe load using this bullet?

I have no experience with the Swiss kind, only a little with the Italian. Perhaps River City John has some info.

I use a 240gr. bullet cast from an Accurate Mold intended for the Vetterli. Three dippers full of the .7cc of Trail Boss, i.e. 9.6 grains. Alox lube wiped on the  bullet after loading.

Overall cartridge length is critical so that the next cartridge in line in the magazine does not hang up on the lifter, 2.2"oa.

Urge you to experiment with your chosen components.

Have fun.

Cast a few bullets this evening, loaded my 3 Vetterli cases with 10gr Trailboss, following the "Trailboss 60% formula". Will try them later this week.

Used mine this last weekend for one stage at our local match, along with my lone Vitali clip.  Great fun.  Several "what is that thing!?"  Had a few guests request to try it after the match.  Shot up what was left of my 20 rounds.

Ordered more brass!

Had an "unintentional" hunting trip with the Vetterli-an unsuccessful one. Yesterday evening I was finally going to take my 3 loaded rounds out to the backyard range to see where they might hit relative to the sights. Wife was in garden, called out to me "The Long Nose one is here" No, the long nose is not an elephant! It's her name for the Armadillo that keeps poking holes all over the garden. Quickly located the armored critter, and figuring the untested load would probably shoot a little high, took a careful 6:00 hold on it and.....shot exactly where I was aiming. Panzer rat flew straight up a couple of feet, came back down running full tilt, under the fence by the lagoon and into the brush. Oh, well, maybe next time.

And the hot new rifle in "Battlefield 1" is a Vetterli?  It is cool to watch the reloads!

Mail Carrier was good to me today. 20 pieces 10.4 X47 from the guy on Etsy. Website said "1 item remaining", so I didn't wait. Next payday-brass to make 11X59R for the Gras. I see only one small problem-less than one full can of 2F Goex in the powder cabinet. Will have to either make a road trip, or bite the bullet and pay the Hazmat to get some more.

I just got the new Vetterli Book by Robert Wilsey.  Great read.  Did you know they did 24" barreled TS Vetterli Carbines?  I think your gun would be perfect for that.  Single barrel band and a rifle nose cap.

I didn't know about the T/S rifles. But did they make any with the Vitale Magazine? I have read that, while they did make some Cavalry Carbines with the repeater conversion, it was only a very small number, something like 400, just for one unit.

If they did make a repeater T/S, I may just have to try and find a cheap 6.5 Vetterli stock to make an imitation one.

While they only did 500 or so Vitali Cavalry carbines, almost all the TS carbines were converted to the Vitali magazine, as well as new ones made.  Very popular weapon in the colonies.
