I'm at that point. I've got tendinitis in my elbows from sitting at this here computer earning a living over the last 12yrs and it's kept me from doing any leather work for months. I want to do more and more with exotic overlays. I want to do linings. I want to do more than just single thickness 12-14oz belts. I've hand-stitched the perimeter of exactly one belt and that was enough. I want to save wear & tear on my joints and I want to do it all faster than I can hand stitching. So I'm looking at machines. The Cowboy 4500 seems like a good place to start. If this goes where I want it to then upgrading to a better machine in the future shouldn't be a problem. For sources I was looking at Solar Leather and Toledo Industrial.

Whatcha think?

Way too much for hand stitching....

I am not familiar with different machines. One of these days I'll end up looking for one myself so hopefully some of the pards here with some experience can share that with us.

When you've had a chance to try it out, please report back on how it is. This could help others with similar needs.

I know a guy with a Cowboy. I believe he's always had good luck with it.

He also has a Juki 441. I own a cobra 4.

The Juki 441, cobra4, cowboy 4500 are all pretty comparable from what I can tell. I see little variations of each but not one stands out as the better machine from what I can tell. I do think I like the presser feet on the Cobra better for bullet loops and tight spots but it's probably what you get used to.
