It seems that my fairly recent 1876 carbine came from the factory with a positive carrier slam down, which I find to be surprising. The carrier arm doesn't have a screw installed, but appears to be shaped to slam the carrier down.  Has anyone else encountered that?  Is that a new Uberti feature, or did I receive some kind of mutant?  Not that I'm complaining...

Mine's pretty close, but with the lever completely closed and compressing the trigger safety, I can still push the elevator up almost an eighth of an inch.

Interesting.  With the lever held closed, mine is solidly down.

Interestingly, when I got the rifle, it seemed to have a hitch in the cycling, which I traced to a kind of "knuckle" on the rounded (well, supposed to be rounded) end of the carrier lifter arm.  I don't pretend to be a gunsmith, so I crossed my fingers that the knuckle wasn't supposed to be there and I filed it round.  That made cycling much smoother.  It's interesting that the lifter arm is set on one end for a positive slam down, but isn't even properly rounded on the other end...
