Uberti Research Project
« on: February 24, 2017, 07:06:58 AM »
Howdy to the campfire.
I am working on a research project. It's on the Uberti company.
One chapter will be dealing with the question when a few of their key guns were produced for the first time or first launched in the USA.
The question here is when did Uberti start making their first S&W replica?
If what I discovered in the literature is correct it was the Model 1875 Schofield and the caliber was .45 Colt.
As for first production dates two sources suggest two different years, namely 1988 and 1998. Which one is correct or are both years wrong?
Thanks for your help.

As I remember, they were introduced in 45 Colt and .44-40 simultaneously in 1994.  I took one of the first .44-40s to Appalachian Showdown in 1995.  I believe Mike Venturino took an original to Val Forgett in the late 1980s to urge its reproduction.
Civilize them with a Krag . . .

Thanks, Drydock, that helps
Can other pards the year 1994 confirm, please?
If memory serves I might have read somewhere 1995.
But 1994 sounds good to me.
Thanks,
