1858 Grip Frame Size
« on: October 16, 2016, 08:22:20 PM »
Gentlemen,
It seems to me I read somewhere that the forged frame Uberti 1858's perhaps have larger grip frames than the cast versions, and also have more room between the grip frame and trigger guard.  Anyone know if this is true?  Anyone have pictures of them together so I can see the difference?

What I have learned, having small hands, is that the Armi San Paolo / Euroarms are based on the Remington-Beals Elliot Model (referred to as Old Army), and not a true 1858. These are the smallest framed Remy's made.
This is the ones I prefer.

THE Uberti 1858 is a bigger frame than the aforementioned guns and based on the true 1858.

Pietta is the biggest framed 1858 and based on a true 1858. With small hands I find this frame too unwieldy.

Hope this helps.

I was wondering about Uberti vs. Pietta grip frames myself. I have had Piettas, and the knuckle of my middle finger crowds the rear of the trigger guard a bit uncomfortably. I have a large palm and shorter fingers. Wonder if the Uberti would fit me better.
