GAF Grand Muster 2017

Hmm...that means I can purchase over 100 guns for Christmas!
I should be done at work by lunch to enjoy this heat and humidity.  I'll keep cool by going to Collector's Firearms.  Their A/C works well.

Uh, I think you're right about that Major, it seem like only yesterday that we were stating our pleasure at
spring like weather, now, we're grumbling about the heat, at least here in my neck of the woods.

95 here right now with 32% rh, but the air feels damp; of course, we are used to normal single or low double digit humidity, and I am more sensitive to it than a lot of folks.  It is an early "monsoon" season, though, hope it goes away early, too.

Been cleaning and mopping for the last hour or so trying to work off some frustration at myself, and my neighbor.  He is an immigrant from Croatia and has very marginal English language skills, speaking, reading, writing, and understanding the way things work in this country.  His wife has been carrying on openly with a man, a Doctor, from Mexico, and treating my neighbor like he was inconsequential, just a handy tool to use for whatever she wanted, and she has been quietly shoving him out of her and their kids lives for a long while now.  He finally figured it out, and came to me seeking advice; hah, a lot I know about that stuff, being married for over fifty years.  Well, I sort of took him on as a project, helping him navigate the divorce procedure - we found out that she was just working to a point where she could take the kids and vanish, leaving him out on the street, and he filed his case.  Well, the process server served her today, and she went ballistic, threatening all sorts of stuff, and he has no idea of his rights, or even what the papers say or mean; he is worried that she is going to take the kids and he will never see them again, so this afternoon, he has come to me three times asking what he can do, and three times, I have told him that he just has to follow the Joint Preliminary Injunction, that it is all spelled out there; she can't sell the cars, she can't take the kids out of the state of Nevada, she can't kick him out on the street, etc. - he just can't seem to understand.  I even copied the document into a translation program, printed it out in Croatian, let him listen to the voice translation, and he still called a friend from Croatia and asked him if that was true.  I was frustrated, told him so, and he went off like a whirling dervish fretting and whining.  So after he left, I fetched a mop and bucket, broom and dustpan, and set myself to cleaning bathrooms and the laundry room to try to work it off.   Roll Eyes Angry Angry

Enough complaining, gotta go finish up in there.

Later.

"SHE" is pet & House sitting over in Melbourne , so I mentioned I'm a Bachelor for week .. Did something yesterday I haven't done in 11 years... I went to a Movie theater,
I decided to see Independence Day, Resurgence

Its a little old small town theater, like we went to when we were kids ... except the owners "get It " and have the place totally up to date.
Nice CLEAN modern seats (wide), Dolby surround sound , CLEAN ...A pleasant throw back to the popcorn Movie houses we liked as kids and run by adults .  Smiley

No frick'n' 12, 15  or 24 PLEX Mall with noisy teenyboppers running "Helter Skelter"  and flashing cell phones or crying brats  Angry

EP... try to steer yourself clear of that rocky shoal.

WHOA, EP!  You are riding a wild bronco there!

Didn't check the weather forecast, but I can guess it is hot and humid.  Made a lazy afternoon yesterday at home.
Miss Red works today, so I'll have to entertain myself.  Still considering a trip to Collector's Firearms, or Able's Ammo.
Think I needs me a 50-70 Sharps or Trapdoor for the next Grand Muster.

Seems I have more revolver than rifle to reload from the Muster.  I spent a couple of hours at the pistol range this morning shooting my Remington C&B mostly.  Finally figured out how to keep it running smoothly...lots of powder, and lots of lube!  Stayed on target...now if I can just manage to do that during a match with the timer running a people watching...

Slim

Was a mostly rainy 4th here. Spent most of the day in the gun shed, loading a little, working on a couple of my "Project" guns, both French, a Gras rifle and a Berthier carbine. After previously fixing a lengthwise crack in the Gras stock, I glass bedded the recoil lug area, because of the crack and some "oil rot" in the 150 year old wood. The poor Berthier.....somebody made it up out of  a pile of leftover parts, I think. And sanded the poor stock within an inch of it's life, then spayed on some kind of shiny stuff, looked awful. Stripped that stuff off, going to use Boiled Linseed Oil to finish it.

Well I see most of the old coots are still here since the last time I was on, one or two new ones as well. This is like coming back to your hometown after a long spell. Glad to see everyone seems to be doing well. I try to keep up with Del on Facebook, but I have been missing this place. Now that I have this on my smart phone and new computer I'll try to pop in more often.
