Had one just like before I gave up WB.  Nobody in my neighborhood shoots WB according to the WBAS standards.  Our matches are more like Cowboy matches with a 1911.  Not the best situation.

Anyway, the one I had was really quite good out of the box.  Onliest thing I did was put a nice pillow on the end of the stock.  they
are nice guns.

The guy owns (partners) a gun shop and has to many discipline irons in the fire... He regularly shoot Glock Steel Challenge, IDPA & IPSC, and dabbles in others. He has one those .338 Lapua Magnum, Accuracy International L115A3's
He also runs CWP classes.... Thursdays nights & Saturdays Mornings .

He got kinda caught up & gung ho in giving WB a try, The monthly SASS  posse has separate Wild Bunch discipline every other month as well .
Just never worked out for Maurice....
The gun is slick , shoots & runs fine , I put Box of 7.5 AA's loaded with Clean Shot through it
that's more than Maurice had done,  it was as NIB, 4 Benjamin's and it went home with me.

Major2 , heck of a deal! I've got one of these and it proved itself solid and reliable right out of the box for WB. That pound of iron out front share helps hold it down! I'm running model 12's now but I kept the trench gun in waiting just in case........Dusty Boddams

This shotgun would match up nicely with a M1 Garand or a Tommy gun!

I would suggest the "load 6" parts for it.  Includes a new mag spring and new follower that allow six in the tube.  Righteous FUN!!!

I was talking to Wild Bodie Tom at Winter Range.  He said he came up with the "Load 6" follower by accident.  He was working on a friend's '97 and the follower shattered.  No time to order a new one before it was needed, so he machined one out of bronze.  Worked so well he though he'd make a "few more" which has now surpassed 7000  Smiley

Nice Trenchgun!  I'd love to find one, or build one off of an IAC '97 Cowboy model.  Be a cool gun to add to my Great War collection.

Abilene
that's the one I got... Smiley  cool info thanks

Jake
According to the SASS Wild Bunch page , my IAC trench gun was made in the last year of production
so no more are being made.... though I think the Cowboy version is ...
if you decide to convert a IAC '97 Cowboy model , be aware there are two manufactures of the after market ventilation/bayonet
shroud  ...look for and watch the U Tube ..avoid the $99 one.

Last one of the IAC Trench gun I saw on GB ..sold for $759

Thanks for the info.  I'll have to do some research before I pull the trigger on the project.

I've got a Norinco 97 trench that runs great. The only issue that I had was when the rt shell stop screw fell out and Winchester screws don't quite work. I was lucky to find an import guy in Washington State who had the correct metric screw. I also did my own 6 shot mod on the gun. I just shot my homemade model 12 trench gun last weekend in my clubs WB match. Lots of fun.
