Hi there,

Not such much interested in the sport, more interested in the firearms.  I joined up cause I was looking for information about some old west guns I have my eye on.

Not much to tell, Silent Joe. Almost got into CowBoy action, but decided I couldn't afford the time or guns. My bro joined and soon afterwards bought an 76 Winchester by Uberti in .45/60.  I've been an avid handloader since 1968, hunting on my own since I was 12, with an Ace .22.

I spent 30-some years of my working career as a peace officer, firearms instructor, riot squad commander and even did a bit of self-defense instructing along with the other jobs at the corrections branch where I spent 19 years of my working life - 8 to 12 hours at a time, weekends off - LOL.] I was also a tree cop for a while - Forest Officer/Official with Revenue branch including the compliance and enforcement sections.

I just picked up a rifle I've wanted since I studied the History of "The Force" (RCMP) while in basic training, a model 76 by Uberti, but not in .45/75, which was actually my second choice) but in .50/95  - the ONE I so desired, all these years.

A very nice rifle it is too with a good weight at 10 pounds empty, just over 11 pounds loaded.  My 74 Sharps weighs 12 1/2, so the M76 is a mite handier rifle for hunting, as well as being a bit more powerful. I chambered my Sharps for a .45 case, only 1.9" long (chambered with my .458 2" reamer), yes, the .45/60 ctg.  I shoot 500 and 530gr. cast bullets in it with BP and 405's & a 506gr. GC RN with smokeless (Benchmark).  It does 1 1/2" or better, with all bullets so far tested at 100 meters with apertures.

I joined the site to obtain loading data and insights into this lovely rifle, along with info on other rifles I am interested in, like the 73's, 86's and 85's.

Thanks for the note. Like I said, pretty standard guy interested in guns - always have been.
