Joyce Carol Oates, the 77 year-old author, professor, and Twitter-genius,
condemned Oscar-winning director Steven Spielberg Tuesday for hunting down and killing a dinosaur. “So barbaric that this should still be allowed,” the feminist wrote. “No conservation laws in effect wherever this is?”

Joyce Carol Oates is the author of more than 70 books.
Apparently, in academia no one has ever heard of “Jurassic Park.” Oates is condemning a photo of Spielberg on the set of his 1993 blockbuster; he’s seated in front of an animatronic dinosaur used in the movie.

Even in the film this dinosaur was not hunted and killed. It was ill from eating the wrong kind of plant.

How comforting that one of America’s “opinion-leaders” is so bubbled she doesn’t recognize one of the world’s most famous directors on the set of one of his most popular films.

How disturbing she doesn’t recognize a freakin’ dinosaur.   Grin

But for hours after the dinosaur tweet, the jokes rolled in.
Some said that if the hunting continued, the animals could face extinction.
One person called Oates a tree-hugger from prehistoric times.
Another consoled her for "losing your first childhood pet."

This is just the kind of reaction you would expect when you sit down next to a sleeping dinosaur Roll Eyes

I am glad that I have slept through that Post. Jurassic Park makes me nervous.

There is a good possibility she tweeted as a joke. She is known for tweeting quotes and material from various comedians.

As Snopes said, one would think a Pulitzer Prize winner would know that a Triceratops is extinct.

Proves the point my dad made when he declared that "Too many people are educated beyond their intelligence."

Dad was a college professor and Mom was a school teacher.  They had a lot of very educated people in their circle and most were okay.  Some were not sufficiently educated in every day things to get by.  As Dad also said, "(that person) isn't smart enough to pee a hole in  snow bank."

I did cause a minor panic about 3 years ago, someone was commenting with out knowledge about so called GMO's and worried the next trend would be cloned foods.  Told them it was too late since they were already cloning potatoes. Grin

Tis best to understand the true meaning of terms before you spout out.  See I'm proud to be a GMO, proud to have cloned potatoes and proud to only burn organic gasoline in my pickup.
