Before anyone writes a check or turns an ignition key to head south - you 'might' want to do a little digging, first - just to see the wide disparity in the reporting of this 'story' and the almost complete lack of provenance.
To Texans - and to much of the world - 'The Alamo' borders on the edge of 'Holy Relic' status, and many, many fakes abound.
Therefore, anything associated with such a site must have iron-clad provenance before being placed in a museum dedicated to the public interest and education.
Too many 'True Believers' have been sold lies and bought them willingly - 'just' like those who collect Confederate relics and Texas Ranger artifacts do, today.
Too many 'personages' with too much money, too little time, and too much enthusiasm have long been viewed as prey by those charlatans, so take this with a grain of salt, and remember that they've been looking for Bowie's knife for a 'very' long time, now - to say nothing of anything 'provably' known to have been Crockett's - both to no avail.
Anything left on that battlefield was treated just like the battlefields of Europe - bodies were stripped and everything was looted by the survivors for later use, sale or trade.
Scouts Out!
