Any Garand heads?
« on: November 04, 2013, 06:05:24 PM »
Looking for a Garand for dad (US Army retired, Captain).  He wants one with kit, sling, and manual.  Any ideas or leads or does anyone have one for sale?

Thanks,

Bob

Well,

I carried one for 3 1/2 hours close order drill/week ... plus a formal Pass-In-review every Saturday and Sunday ... does that count?

I've owned three Garands, two currently.

One was a 'Winchester' with milled trigger guard. It had a grey bore, so I sold it. Shoulda kept it, but then M1's had no great value.

Then I acquired a couple of Springfield models, one ex-Danish and set up for serious target work by a man who knew his way around Garands. The other was straight GI and shot very well to the point where the seller wanted to buy it back as the M1A he bought didn't shoot as well. I paid $250 for it. Now the same gun would go for at least $1000.

I sold that one to buy my wife a pair of Ruger Flat Top .44 Spl.'s. I hope she appreciates the sacrifice .....
