Expansion Era class Structure.
« on: August 01, 2012, 12:31:34 PM »
After discussion and experimentation at the DoM Muster:

The EEM shall be a single stage side match, with an associated long range component.

Regular-
-A Milspec Smokeless Repeating Rifle in a 1917 or earlier configuration, with associated Milspec handgun.

Guardsman-
-Civilian repeating rifle, period iron sights, any GAF approved handgun.

Officer-
-Milspec handgun only.  Engage all targets. (Move up!)

Infantry-
-Mispec Smokeless Repeating Rifle in a 1917 or earlier configuration, engage rifle targets only.  Be prepared to use your bayonet/knife.

Trench Broom-
-1912 and earlier shotgun, any GAF approved handgun.  Shot size determined by range conditions.  Engage all targets. (Move up!)

For the long range component of the match, both Officer and TB are authorized to use a rifle reasonable to their portrayal. (Call it a "Battlefield pickup")

All reasonable loading aids allowed for rifle and handgun.   TBs use loose ammo.

Portrayal requirements as per the Muster Guide.  Ammunition requirements per Muster Guide.

Movement shall only be made with all weapons in safe condition.  Longarms shall be open and empty, or closed on a fired round.  Handguns shall be safed in accordance with their design.

I am wondering why using a shotgun would require "loose"ammo when the rifles can use ammo in clips or Cartridge belts or bandolieres?  wouldn't a web belt or bandolier be OK?  I understand  no modern speed loaders or trap pouches or gun mounted cariers.

"Loose" means no speedloaders. Thats it.  Web belts, bandoliers, pouchs are fine.  No speedloaders, loads must be from the person.

I like the addition of the Trench Boom and the consolidation of the regular and volunteer.  How about an infantry option of some sort without any handgun?

Darn, I was planning on doing a Mexican revolutionary with a 1911 and Grandpa's mod 94 30-30....but with all the lever guns classed together, that would have me shooting agsainst Stu Kettle and his deadly 44 extra long Russian.....

(Competing for second place)

An infantry class is possible, still thinking about this.

I think that I answered my question about bolt action 30/30.  Winnchester made a run from 1925-1930, the model 54.  My Stevens  325C came along in 1947.  Last I heard 30 years can not stretch!!  There are others in the safe!!
