Its rare that you get to do two facinating Historical Impressions with the same essential equipment and don't have to gear up for the different impression. Here's your opportunity to do so. I found it via the essential tool itself. Mdl. 1895 Mauser, 7mm Carbine length, or rifle length. This same rifle/carbine was used by both "Boer Commando's" in South Africa in the "Anglo Boer war of 1899-1902" and across the Atlantic Ocean, Our southern neighbors "Mexican Revolution 1910-1920" Specifically by "Division Del Norte ' Brigada Villa'!" Although you may not know much about the "Boer War" maybe saw "Breaker Morant". Very few of you do not know something about the "Centaur of the South" "Francisco Villa!" (Pancho Villa!)
Manufactured in different arsenals with slight variations, the M95 Mauser 7mm. was the preffered weapon of both struggles. So if you want to get the most bang for your buck. Grab a Mauser before their price goes up and join the "History".

Now the other shoe drops. Both impressions have little uniform requirements other than the Mauser and a bandoleer. of clipped ammunition. The Boers were citizen soldiers, mounted militia who's entire kit and mount they furnished themselves even mustered with their own arms and then traded their own rifles for govt. supplied Mausers to ease supply. Later in the war they used whatever they could including vast quantities of captured Lee Metford Rifles.
The Division Del Norte was formed towards the middle of their struggle, What uniforms were available were captured Federal Troops. Or often same soldier in his original uniform, now fighting for different cause. The majority of the soldiers wore Civilian clothing, They were issued a tricolor ribbon printed with their Division's Name as means of identifying friend from foe.

I have a FB page for "American Reconnaissance Corps, Johann Hessel's American Scouts, OVS." a historical "Boer Commando" please like for additional information and photos.

Hope to start or find a "Hefe" to form "Division Del Norte 'Brigada Villa'!" soon and have a FB page for it as well. Saludos Amigos!
