Thanks guys and glad you like my work - it's also nice to hear something nice - I blew a fourth disc in my low back about a month ago and the %$@#!*(!&%# pain has been bad even with some drugs and such....then ther's been the heat most days have been 95-100° F for the last 6 weeks and at 7,000' that's HOT!
Anyway - Slowhand Bob - these are going to a private "museum" in Indiana - the gent has purchased a bunch of my work over the years and these will fit in with the rest real well.
Dalton - the braintan itself was dyed with coffee and the "stains" I create are a combo of various things including: some oil, some dye, some dirt (yes dirt!), some grease, some varnish, etc. - I just use whatever works for the look I want........and yes sometimes it goes wrong and things have to get rebuilt even that late in the game (and the air turns VERY blue
), but after doing it long enough now I've got a pretty good feel for what will and won;t work - still now and again (in fact I had to partially rebuild one of these since I over did it - did save the beadcuff though......
)
KT asked elsewhwere about a belt - here's the rest of the gent's rig that will go with these holsters..
Here's a couple of pics of the belt and the pouch
IIRC there are about 500 tacks in that belt and the buckle in an antique..
and here's the botas that go with the rig...
The gent does an early 1870's Plainsman impression with heavy So. Cheyenne influence
