Was on the beach today in Georgia.  72 degrees and wonderful.

Went with a couple of friends to a Civil War Re-enactment and Encampment today - my first time to this particular event, which is less than four miles from Casa Nighteyes. The early-morning temps were in the low 50's, but by the time of the noontime Battle of Spotsylvania  Courthouse it had risen all the way up to 68.  Perfectly clear skies and just enough wind to keep the cannon smoke from blotting out the "battlefield."

We had a pretty great time overall.  Out of the  roughly two dozen field pieces involved, one for them blew a perfect smoke-ring with each shot.  Only one.  I've seen 105's do that, as well as naval guns.

Sounds like a blast Nighteyes! Wish they had some of them closer to where I live. Useta do that over in Indiana but don't think they have em anymore. We have a revolutionary war re- enactment just over in the next town every year. But heck I can barely afford my Cowboy gear! Don't wanna start buyin Rev- War stuff as well!  Grin

Were you participating in the re-enactment or just watchin DN ? And did you take any pics to share with yur fellow pards here?? Please! Maybe!  Smiley

Just watching.  Like you, I can barely afford my CAS stuff.

I didn't, but my friends did. I'll get some and post 'em.

We now return you to the regularly scheduled thread...

They have a huge reinactment in Fresno Kerney Park every year, local radio host plays a general. My moms cousin did it for years and was in a couple films. His alias was Pappy Dinwiddie, when he died they gave him full honors and took him a few miles through town.If ya ever talk to any of them fellers ask them about Pappy Dinwiddie..He was real sick and he went out the hard way.. Sad
after Fresno they would come here to Mooneys Grove Park, but this year they didn't have it,i got a feelin the city was agin it,but we fired all of them about 4 days ago,got rid of the mayor and all the councilmen, replaced then with good conservative types.. Grin ;)We are gonna take our town back!
