A "Period" Cartridge Box Label for Canucks .....
« on: September 16, 2009, 08:20:59 PM »
My Fellow Canadians .....

As you may know, my CAS cartridge is .45 Colt, and I am also the proud owner of a Colt Model 1878 Double Action revolver chambered in that cartridge, which probably one of the 1,001 such revolvers purchased by the Canadian Department of Militia & Defence in early 1885 for use in the North West Rebellion .....

Accordingly, for quite some time I have wanted to produce a facsimile of this Dominion Cartridge Co. box label, which features a Model 1878 D.A. revolver -

I actually got the project started some time ago, but finally completed it today.  Anyone who wishes to print these labels for their own use is welcome to do so.  The thumbnail below links to a rather large, high-resolution gif image of the label which you can save, re-size to your liking and use, if you are so inclined.  Unless you use a laser printer, for durability (i.e. labels which won't bleed and run if they get damp) I would recommend first printing a sheet of the re-sized labels, but then photocopying that sheet onto pale blue paper (or whatever colour you like) and then using those as the actual box labels .....

Excellent restoration of the original label image, Mogo!    :)

I often try to do a "cleanup" like that - and in fact now prefer it if such cleanup seems feasible - but in this case I had started the facsimile label, so I carried on with that.

Just as well - now we have both!   ;D
