The Columbus Rifle Club presents:  3rd Friday night monthly fun Cowboy Match

Located at the Clark Memorial Columbus Rifle Club Range, Columbus NE.  Take Hwy 81 west of Columbus to 235th Ave., go north 2 miles to 265th St., turn east and the range is on the south side of 265th St. just east of the Loup canal.

Guns of the Old West:  single action revolvers, lever action rifles, military or buffalo rifles, and old time shotguns (bring whatever you have that‘s close and join the fun).  Your score is your time plus penalties for misses and such.  Low score wins.  An effort to dress in  “old west” style clothing is appreciated but NOT required.  We will be following Standard CAS safety and scoring rules as best we can.

Held on the third Friday evening of the month from April through September.
Set up around 5pm and start shooting around 6pm.
We will shoot  1 stage then repeat or do something else fun as time and daylight allows.
The atmosphere of these will be decided by the participants.
We will use a timer if you want but everyone will keep track of their own score.

These are the categories to choose from at the Columbus Rifle Clubs Cowboy matches.  We may combine or separate categories as needed.  If you are used to SASS, GAF, NCOWS or  new to the game, there should be something for everyone.

Choose a shooting category:    Men:       Ladies:       Senior:       Juniors:
Greenhorn:  New to the game, bring what ya’ have and join the fun.
4 gun classes:  Any CAS legal handgun, pistol caliber rifle and CAS shotgun.
No shotgun classes:  Any CAS legal handgun, pistol caliber rifle, Any powder.
2 gun classes:  One CAS legal handgun and GAF rifle,  Uniform is encouraged.

All main match ammunition must be center fire using lead or lead alloy bullets.
Speed of ammo, Rifle 1,400 FPS maximum. Pistol 1,000 FPS maximum.  400 FPS is the minimum with a minimum Power factor of 60.  Power Factor = (bullet grains * fps) / 1000

The only GAF shoot currently planned in Nebraska this year is the Department of Missouri Headquarters shoot July 13-15 2012. http://www.cascity.com/forumhall/index.php/topic,39107.0.html

Must be a member of the GAF but but membership is free and easy to sign up online. Prospective members with out a computer Can register at the match. The GAf is a great place to play with your old military weapons that are collecting dust otherwise.

Hey RC John
About what time do your matches usually end? Do you have to have a current NCOWS membership?

I'll be in Lincoln 4-6 (My daughter's wedding) I'll see if I can get permission to slip away for a while Sunday.

UPDATE:
I guess there's wedding stuff going on on Sunday too. I won't be able to get therethat day  Undecided

Well come on then!

NCOWS membership only required if you're considerin' becoming a card carrying member of the Blue River Regulators. We accept any and all Guests regardless of race, creed, gender or affiliation.

Being a personal friend and a fellow Nebraskan, a flashy display of greenbacks in your hand will get you through the door.

We usually finish up around 3 o'clock or shortly thereafter.

Bring your own vittles for lunch break. Come try out Working Cowboy(1 pistol, 1 rifle) or Range Detective(2 pistols and 1 rifle). Or, if you're feeling manly, bring 2 pistolas, 1 rifle and 1 shotgun and shoot 'em all!

For what it's worth,

I think Scruffy Skippy is still planning on holding a Fri evening practice night (a couple of stages) once a month at the Columbus Rifle Club,
I think they are also planning on at least a couple fifth Sun day matches.  I will get dates up when I can Or just call him direct. through HighPlains Shooters Supply.

If anyone has flyers for their shoots and would want to have me post them on my bulliten board here at work I would be glad to, also extras are nice to be able to hand to people who come in here asking about shoots.

Platte Valley Gunslingers - 2014 Official Schedule:

For any of you that are going to be in central Nebraska, the local range has released the 2014 schedule for the park. We did not get nearly as many cowboy matches as I wanted, but I will take what I can get. All scheduled matches are on Saturdays, and are as follows:

◾May 10

◾June 21

◾July 19

◾August 16

◾October 18

Also, for those that may want to make a cowboy weekend out of it, The Grand island Rifle Club (another club just down the street from our park), has matches scheduled for Sundays of the same weekend. Hope to see some of you come out.

Skunk Stomper added one more to the Heartland shoots, May 10. Not our normal weekends, but the only time available in May with the zombies coming at the end of the month
