Yes they are heavy, and a horse is the way to pack one for sure.
I saw one for sale on one of the gun auction sites, and the seller referred to it a "a real man's rifle." Har!

Why does a Real Cowboy wear sneakers and a baseball cap?
So he can't be mistaken for a trucker!

If you guys want to start any threads about these in BROW, I'll move them to the new forum when it gets set up. BTW if anybody wants to get me a Chrismas present I'll take a regular carbine in 45-60, if they were good enough for TR they ought to work for me.

Thanks, Del! Appreciate your support.
Those carbines are sweet. By the way, I think both Uberti and Chaparral now have the rifle available with the 22 inch barrel as well.

Sadly it is gonna be a couple years before I can afford one, but I want one for deer hunting, the Sharps is just too long and heavy for walking and although the 99 in 243 and the Big Bore 375 will handle any deer I see, just want one.

Grizzly Adams,
Just read through all the posts on the '76 and I think it would be a good idea. I was able to pick up a Cimarron by Uberti a couple of weeks ago. Havn't been able to shoot it yet, don't have any brass. But I got my dies three days ago and have my brass on order from Rocky Mountain Cartridge Co. Mine is the 28" rifle and it sure feels good when you shoulder the weapon. Looking forward to hearing more from others. By the way I"ll be shooting BP only.
Thanks Texas Sarge
