You might try the following links:
http://www.seattlefabrics.com/webbing.html#Type_II_A_Cotton_Webbing
http://www.jontay.com/webbing/cottonwebbing.htm
http://jas-townsend.com/product_info.php?cPath=29&products_id=657
I was able to buy some from a local Surplus store in 1-1/2" width.

Great links, Johnny. Thanks for the post. Since this question comes up now and then, I added this thread to the
How-To FAQ
thread so others can find cotton webbing in the future. It is also renamed to
How-To FAQ/Suppliers

The miltary belts, tan blue black, they all make good material for cartridge loops , you can find a good supply of canvas material at your local surplus store.

I've even seen a couple of original Mills belts (Military - NG) that were red.
A question for those that have used the "natural" webbing - one of the links shows "heavy" in 2" width in natural . . . has anyone ever dyed any of the "natural"? I'm thinking of "Rit Dyes" - am wondering if done in cold water if there was any problems with shrinkage? (Bot width wise and length wise)?
I'm thinking of buying about 10 yards or so to make up some "civilian" belts - using leather tongue and bukle attachment with leather loops - would like to dye it a darker tannish color. Thanks.

Hi,
I have used their 1" and 2" for .45 Cal Scofield and .45-70 loops ... but never have made a whole belt of it ...
But try
