Smiley  I had the pleasure of meeting BB at the East Coast Invitational a few weeks ago.  Does anyone know how his debate went in Kansas or wherever it was?

Thanks,

Greta Dee

I am dying to find out too. What a tough topic for our young pard, but I am sure he did really well with it, as he does a good job with any task at hand in my observation of him in the past seven or eight years. I know he was excited about qualifying and excited to try and turn the subject around a bit, but still come out well.
You read this and that about todays youth, but BB and his sister sure defy all that tripe about young folks.
Maybe it has something to do with upbringing.  Smiley Take a bow BJT and Maggie.

Bud thought we wiped the floor with the first four rounds of debate but then he saw the judges notes. They thought he had "gamed it" and that we was not in the "spirit" of the debate. He was knocked out early. He was pretty bummed out it.

He had much more fun at the East Coast Regionals!

Cheers,

Well BJT, I am sure he had an experience that most of us never would come close to and he can chalk that up to his own life experiences, so disappointed he must be, he still earned the way to getting to the Nationals and that says something right there. Game a debate? I'll have to hear him tell about it. See you guys at World Cup if not before.
Thanks for the update, he may be your son, but we are all such a big family, that sometimes he feels like ours too.  Smiley

Game a debate, is that like being a gamer in W3G?Huh

I'm sorry it din't go better for him, but it was a great opportunity and learning experience I'm sure.  WE had a great time at the Regionals too.  Glad he was able to make it.

Howdy Dowdy - you're right, it's great seeing and hearing about the younger generation of our sport.

They thought he had "gamed it" and that we was not in the "spirit" of the debate.

I have to ask - What does that mean? Did he use too much logic for them? Come on too strong? Bring in too many supporting facts?
It's strange how sometimes things can be judged in ways you wouldn't expect.
Tell Bud we're still proud of him.
Best,
