Lets talk about these knock-out targets,

The way we have the targets calibrated is if you hit the bonus center anywhere on it's face, did I say anywhere?

It will fall if the round is traveling at the recommended velocity as stated in the "WCO7 Information Letter."

We actually shoot at the bottom of the knock-out to test the validity of this.

This all being said. it is up to the shooter to make sure that His or Her loads are traveling at the recommended velocity.

Also we do not live in a perfect world, and because of this I'm sure that someone this year will hit a bonus and have it not go down and come screaming to me or the match official that he or she is shooting more than the recommended velocity and the target did not go down.  All I can say is "did you test your loads before the match"? and if you did then it is an act of God, and He supercedes  my authority. Grin

Seriously though, we make every effort to make sure that the targets are calibrated correctly and "Stuff Happens" I'm sorry.

SAMMY OUT! Cool

I've been using 125 gr loads in 38 Spl, and those knock outs get knocked out. I like the noise they make when they slap open & bounce. Nice metal on metal "clank! tink, tink".

Well, with earplugs in, I hear;
 Bang! Clang (tink, tink)

The "tink, tink" is when those knock outs bounce after being knocked out.

Maybe your earplugs aren't so good?  Tongue

If anyone is worried about taking down the knockouts, you can always do what some of us do.  We use 200-grain .45's.  Even at moderate velocities (mid 600's), the KDs go down with a resounding CLANG.  Nice sound too.

I tested my 32's in every location of the knockout plates and had NO problems!

32-20 115gr @ 850-900fps

Piece of cake!
