Dump targets have a bonus?

Another question please.

A big square target has a round 6 inch center that is not the knockout type. The stage calls for 5 pistol rounds on the dump. I figure that the white round center is a bonus and if I were to hit it 4 times and one misses the center and hits the square is that a miss and 4 bonuses?

Hitting anywhere on the target is not a miss - it's a hit.

In Western 3 Gun, hitting the white "bonus area" is a bonus and takes 1 second off of your score for each bonus hit.

So, for your example, the shooter would get 4 bonus hits, and 1 hit for a total score of his/her time minus 4.

If the entire target was missed, then each miss adds 5 seconds to the time, just like Cowboy action shooting.

As Montego has said, there would be no miss.  5 hits, 4 of which are counted as "bonus" hits.  Even had you missed, W3G rules allow you to reload to make up the miss.  Ain't that cool too?
