I'll bring up a question or two, maybe mostly for the benefit of those that haven't had the pleasure of shooting a W3G match.

I don't sign up for the open class. I usually sign up for BP. I definately shoot amatuer. Is coaching an amatuer shooter allowed, even though they still have to abide by the no alibi rule?

Let me take a shot at this, although I may get it wrong.

In Western 3 Gun, the shooter is committed at the buzzer. When that beep goes off, it is up to the shooter, no matter what he is signed up as, to shoot the stage as is.

The difference between Open and Amateur comes up in coaching. For the Open category there is no coaching, not from the timer and not from the crowd. The Open shooter is on his own. The Amateur shooter  does get the advantage of coaching from the timer. So if you are Open and can not remember if that target needs 3 or 5 shots, do not ask the timer, just give it your best shot Wink

Did I get it right Sammy?

Thanks Howdy, great question.

Best Regards,
Black Jack Traven

Traven,

Very well put my friend,

However, if you are an amatuer shooter and accept coaching, you cannot come back and say "the timer or the R.O. gave me the wrong information."

It is still your stage, the R.O. or the timer is just doing the best he or she can to help you through the stage, accepting their information is up to you.

Sammy Out! Cool
