BRW, for what it's worth, those red plastic "ring caps" can be cut from thier ring and will fire a front stuffer with authority too!

Hmm.  I was wondering about those.  They are quite a bit hotter than paper shots and I suppose they're still cheaper than buying a tin of real caps.  Them plastic caps are pricey too.  Wink

Thanks for looking Del.  We got only the Chinese stuff too.  Sad

I also wonder if any one in the US still makes roll caps.  Wonder if you can buy fulmic acid, you could always sacrifice your mercury medical thermometors you are hording. Grin  (Diclaimer: Kids do not try this at home.) Shocked

Lookit what I found. Grin
www.toyguns4u.com/catalogpg3.html
www.hometown.aol.com/wildwesttoys/page3.html

First one's for antiques, but the second one actuall sells American made paper caps by Kilgore.  The same kind we used to get when we were kids.  Smiley

Nevermind.  They's probably the Chinese stuff.

Looks like the only American made caps are the "antique" one's the first site has for sale.

I've had one for ages.  Something else that works is the tip of a strike anywhere match.  Be careful.  There are two hazards involved.

One is trimming the tip without setting it afire.

The other is driving yourself nuts because it's really slow going that way.

I just ordered one of these tools for the heck of it.

At about $30 shipped,  I would have to do a lot of shooting to pay for this;  I can get Remington caps in a 100 count tin for $4 dollars.

What really interests me is that I can make these myself-  I love these do-it-yourself projects!

This will keep me occupied for quite a while.......

I don't want to rain on anyone's parade but isn't this about like making your own gunpowder? A lot of labor and some expense to produce an inferior product. I could see the problem if percussion caps were in short supply but I don't see that.
The only justification I can see is "I done it myself".

Howdy Noz,

I can't get Remington #11 caps around my range.  CCI caps abound, but they don't work as well on my ROAs.  So, I was looking for an alternative.  Besides, it's fun to be able to make my own just in case the liberal cap Nazis start counting my primers and declare that I have an "Arsenal". . . Grin

So, I got the catalog and saw the gizmo and got to thinkn' . . . . Hey, I could make my own.

Where you gettn' yer Remington #11 caps?

It would be neat if the plastic capgun caps could  be made to work.  Cheaper than metal and no fragments?

Otherwise, this "beer can recycling" using the dirt cheap roll caps is really cool.
